Ven. Anuruddha Thero
Who We Are
By advise of Ven. Walpola Kalyanatissa Maha Thero it was possible for Ven. Anuruddha Thero to set up and inaugurate this Buddhist center on 29th June 2016. Ven. Aduruddha Thero is the head of the center. He is also in charge of the Zurich Buddhist Vihara in Lenzburg, Switzerland where he resides most of the time. Ven. Anuruddha is also the head of the Intercultural Buddhist Center in Bern, Switzerland. Therefore the name of this foundation of Swiss-Lanka Daham Sevana. The main supporters of the center are our devotees from Switzerland.
On a day to day basis the center is coordinated by Bhante Sarada as of 21st May 2017.
The mission is to be a Buddhist Retreat center and be open to conduct retreats for various groups.
During school vacation it is a training center for novice monks, youth training such as Life Skills, moral education, Buddhist leadership and it provides specific training for Dhamma School teachers. A temporary ordination program (from a few days to several months) is also provided.
Resident training are provided and based on the needs of the society and according to Buddhist tradition.
History of the centre
The facility was orginally established and constructed by the Swedish family of Birgitta and Lennart Benkel in years 2005 and finised in 2008. Their vision was to establish a centre to make a difference in Sri Lanka and provide a training facility.
The place can accommodate at the moment 38 people. The plan is up to 50 people.
